Terms & license

The terms for buying and using Petal. Your mandatory legal rights always apply.

About Petal

These terms cover the Petal Mac app, its updates, and petal.bar. “We,” “us,” and “our” mean the independent developer operating the Petal brand in Massachusetts, United States. Petal is the supplier of the software. For support or questions about these terms, email newomp4@gmail.com.

You agree to these terms when they are presented to you and you confirm your agreement at purchase or activation. You must be legally able to enter the agreement or have the necessary permission. If you act for a business, you must have authority to agree for it. Existing purchases keep the rights and promises that applied when they were made; these terms do not change them retroactively.

Petal is independent of OpenAI, Anthropic, and other supported providers. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners. Petal is not endorsed by those providers.

Your license

A valid purchase or authorized free code gives you a limited, non-exclusive license to use Petal on Macs you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use. You receive permission to use the software, not ownership of its code or artwork. New purchases cover one Mac at a time. Existing purchases keep their original device access. A free code’s device limit is shown when it is issued, and existing codes keep their original conditions.

For a one-Mac license, an internet connection is required for activation and at least once every seven days to renew access. You can reinstall on the same Mac. To move your license, choose Deactivate this Mac in Settings → License before activating on another Mac. Contact support if you cannot access your old Mac. Deactivation keeps your saved accounts and history. Existing unlimited licenses keep their original offline access.

Keep your license private. Do not sell, rent, publish, sublicense, or share it with other users without our permission, except where the law allows. A free code follows any conditions disclosed when it was issued.

Petal’s original software, design, and branding belong to us or our licensors. Do not copy or redistribute them, remove ownership notices, or reverse engineer the software except where the law permits. Open-source components keep their own licenses, which take priority for those components. These restrictions do not remove lawful interoperability or security-research rights.

Use your accounts responsibly

Connect only accounts you own or have permission to use. Follow the law and each provider’s terms. You are responsible for your provider subscriptions, charges, and account permissions.

Do not use Petal for fraud, unauthorized access, malware, service disruption, or bypassing licensing, authentication, usage limits, or other safeguards. Switching accounts does not give you permission to evade a provider’s rules. Report security concerns privately to our support email.

Usage readings and outside services

Petal displays information available from your connected providers. Usage, spending, history, reset times, forecasts, status reports, and notifications can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Check the provider’s own dashboard before relying on a reading for spending or important work. Community reset announcements and estimates are not official promises.

Petal does not include an AI subscription, increase your allowance, stop provider billing, or guarantee continued AI access. Notifications depend on settings, macOS permissions, and current provider information. History contains the readings Petal has collected, not a complete record of past provider activity.

Providers can change their services, sign-in methods, or policies. macOS can change too. These changes may interrupt an integration. Features marked Beta may be incomplete or less reliable. We cannot promise that every integration will remain available, but this does not remove any legal duty to supply the advertised product or provide a remedy.

Purchases, delivery, and updates

Petal is a one-time purchase with no recurring Petal subscription. The price, applicable taxes, and fees are shown before payment. AI subscriptions and provider charges are separate.

Petal is delivered as a download with a license code. It currently requires macOS 14 or later on an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac. Sign in to your Whop purchases using your checkout email to find your Petal purchase and license. A purchase or free code must be activated in the app. Contact us if you cannot access either the download or your code.

All future updates to Petal that we release are included at no extra charge. This does not promise a particular feature, release date, or indefinite development. It does not reduce existing purchase promises or any legally required updates or remedies. We will disclose changed compatibility requirements for future versions.

Whop processes payments under its applicable terms. We remain responsible for Petal’s delivery, support, and software license. Whop does not become the supplier of Petal by processing your payment.

Refunds and purchase help

Email newomp4@gmail.com with your order reference and the problem. We review refund requests individually and honor any refund promise made at purchase. This is not an additional unconditional money-back guarantee.

Your rights for faulty, misdescribed, or undelivered software remain in place, along with any applicable cancellation, withdrawal, or payment-dispute rights. Whop processes approved refunds and payment reversals. For duplicate or unrecognized charges and payment-processing errors, you can also contact Whop support.

If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK, you generally have 14 days after purchase to withdraw. For an immediate digital download, that right ends only where the required express consent and acknowledgment were obtained. Otherwise it remains available. These terms alone do not obtain that consent or remove that right.

Your data and Mac

Petal keeps account settings and usage history on your Mac. It contacts connected providers for usage, a licensing service to activate and validate access, and update and service-status sources. Purchase activation may be checked against your Whop purchase. For one-Mac licenses, the licensing service stores an app-specific hash of your Mac’s identifier, a public verification key, and activation dates to enforce the device limit. The raw hardware identifier and private key stay on your Mac. The Mac app has no analytics. Payment and hosting providers handle information under their own policies.

Keep your device and credentials secure and back up information you need. Review exports and terminal commands before using them. These responsibilities do not excuse defects in Petal or remove your legal remedies. See how Petal checks usage for a short explanation.

Support messages are used to respond to your request and handle related purchase or product issues. Do not send passwords, API keys, full license codes, or payment-card details.

Limits of responsibility

We do not promise perfect accuracy, uninterrupted access, or error-free software. Petal should not be your only source for decisions where a wrong reading could cause serious harm.

Consumer purchases. Your mandatory rights, warranties, and remedies remain protected, including rights concerning quality, fitness for purpose, accurate description, and required updates. We remain responsible for foreseeable losses caused by our breach where the law requires. Nothing here limits all consumer remedies to the purchase price.

Business purchases only. For purchases made wholly for business purposes, and only where the law allows, Petal is provided “as is” and “as available” apart from our express purchase promises. We disclaim other warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses or lost profits, revenue, business opportunities, or goodwill. Subject to the protected rights below, our total liability arising from Petal will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid for Petal.

Rights that cannot be limited. No section excludes or limits liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else the law does not allow us to exclude or limit. Mandatory consumer protections override conflicting wording in these terms.

Ending access

We may suspend or end a license for a material breach after reasonable notice and an opportunity to fix it where possible. Immediate action may be taken when reasonably necessary to address fraud, unlawful use, or a serious security risk. A refund or reversed payment may end the related license, subject to the law and the outcome of any unresolved dispute.

You may stop using and uninstall Petal at any time. This does not by itself create a refund right. Ending access does not remove accrued rights, valid refund claims, or mandatory remedies. Ownership and lawful liability limits continue where relevant.

Changes and disputes

We will date changes to these terms and give reasonable notice of material changes. New terms will not retrospectively remove rights attached to a purchase. Where agreement to a material change is required, we will request it.

Massachusetts law governs these terms, except that mandatory protections available to you where you live still apply. Contact us to try to resolve a problem. This does not make contacting us a condition of using a court, regulator, or lawful payment-dispute process. These terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights.

If a provision cannot lawfully apply, the remaining provisions continue where possible. Not enforcing a right immediately does not waive it. These terms, the promises made at purchase, and applicable component licenses form the agreement. Nothing excludes liability for statements or promises that the law makes binding.
