What does Petal do?
Petal shows how much of your AI allowance is left and when it resets. Check all your accounts from your Mac’s menu bar, a movable notch, or desktop widgets. Open an account to see its usage history.
Does Petal include an AI subscription?
No. Petal tracks accounts you already have. Your Codex, Claude, or other AI subscriptions are paid for separately.
Which services does it work with?
Codex and Claude Pro or Max. Beta connections also track OpenRouter spending limits, Gemini CLI model limits, Cursor Teams extra spending, and GitHub Copilot personal spending. These beta connections have different requirements and may be less reliable. Grok opens its usage page without automatic syncing.
Do I need an API key?
Not for Codex or Claude. Install Codex or Claude Code, then use an existing sign-in or connect in your browser. OpenRouter needs a key with a spending limit, and Cursor Teams needs an admin API key. Gemini and Copilot use their signed-in command-line apps.
How does Petal check my usage?
Petal reads usage from the providers you connect without sending AI prompts. Your account settings and usage history stay on your Mac. The app also connects to licensing, update, and service-status services. The Mac app has no analytics.
Which Macs does it run on?
macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel. You don’t need a Mac with a notch.
