Questions
What does Petal do?
AI subscriptions limit how much you can use within a few hours or a week. Petal shows how much you have left on each Codex and Claude account, and when those limits reset. Check them all from the top of your Mac’s screen.
Does Petal include an AI subscription?
No. Petal tracks accounts you already have. Your Codex, Claude, or other AI subscriptions are paid for separately.
Which services does it work with?
Codex and Claude subscriptions, and OpenRouter keys in beta. Grok can be opened from Petal but not tracked yet.
Do I need an API key?
Not for Codex or Claude. Use an existing sign-in or connect in your browser. OpenRouter uses an API key.
How does Petal check my usage?
Petal runs locally on your Mac and requests usage information directly from the providers you connect. You don’t need a separate Petal account, and Petal does not collect analytics.
Which Macs does it run on?
macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel.
